Expert Tips for Winning More Often at Roulette

Whether playing online or in person, you can’t help but find a crowd surrounding the roulette table. In an age of new and fantastic casino game variants, the classic roulette experience still gets the job done. Of course, online roulette continues to benefit tremendously from technology with new engaging variants. However, the original trio still continues to draw crowds. Whether you’re new to the roulette experience or looking to better your game, read this guide about the surefire ways to win more often playing roulette.

Understand and Play the Roulette Basics

It doesn’t matter how refined your roulette strategy is if you don’t understand the basics. Fortunately, playing roulette can be as simple or as complex as you like, thus making it a unique table game for beginners and seasoned pros. The goal is to place bets on different parts of the wheel and hope that the white ball falls on a number or a color. Of course, roulette offers more complex bets than that. However, that is the essence of the game.

    Know the Main Roulette Variants

While we could spend all day happily discussing the fantastic and growing variants, we will limit ourselves to the main three roulette variants. American Roulette, by far, is the most abundant and popular among the classic three.

You can make all the essential roulette bets, including betting on the color, odds, and even. However, because of the double zero, you can make the rare basket bet, which delivers awesome 6:1 payouts. While having the double zero might seem cool, what isn’t cool is the highest house edge of all the roulette games at 5.26%. So, if you’re new to roulette or on a budget, perhaps going down the American Roulette route isn’t the way to go.

European Roulette is also more available, especially at online casinos. The allure of European Roulette is the more favorable 2.70% house edge because it only has a single zero. Due to the massive demand for live dealer roulette, the French variant is now available at more online casinos in the USA.

Even though the original French Roulette wheel had the double zero, it was taken off the wheel in the 1840s. Also, French Roulette is the oldest variant, with the table layout exclusively being in French. The general house edge is also 2.70%. However, because roulette players want to get the most bang for their buck, players can’t get enough of French Roulette thanks to the special single-zero rules that drive the house edge even lower to 1.35%.

    1. The Straight-up Bet

When in doubt, the straight-up bet is the essence, heart, and soul of any roulette game. This is when you bet on the white ball landing on a particular number. You have roughly a 50% shot of getting it right. Winning straight-up bets play 35:1.

    2. Odds or Even Wagers

One of the most common roulette bets is odds, or even paying even money for guessing that the white ball lands on an even or an odd number. It doesn’t have to be a specific number, just as long as any odd or even number hit, based on if you elected to bet odd or even.

    3. Red or Black

Betting on red or black works like odd, even because they are also popular, even money bets. You also win even money if your wager lands on a red or black number.

    4. Columns Bets

For those who have played roulette before, the column bet is another highly rewarding option that’s within reach for most budgets. Because the roulette wheel is broken up into vertical columns, you place your chips on one of the columns in which you were playing in person. The beauty of the column bet is that you win if any of the numbers in the chosen column hits. Colum bets pay 2:1.

    5. Square Bets

The square bet is the type of roulette bet that works for beginners and experienced players. The square bet, also known as the corner bet, pays 8:1 for winners. The goal is to place your chips in the corner where four numbers form a square. If any of those numbers in the square hit, you win.

    Practice When You Can

While roulette isn’t an overwhelmingly complicated game, it does take some tack and practice if you plan on making more sophisticated bets. The great part of playing online is that you have more options for free gameplay. With the rise of sweepstakes casinos, you have more chances than ever to play free roulette games at a higher caliber.

    Consider a Betting Strategy

If you are playing online roulette, in many ways, using a betting strategy ties into the first point of practice. Because roulette is one of the oldest table games, there are plenty of betting methods available. Some of the most common betting strategies are the Martingale and the Paroli.

It’s common for new roulette players to lean on these methods as they get their footing. If you have the fortune of playing for free at a social casino, you can put them to the test. However, overusing these betting methods can also cause you to go through your bankroll faster than expected, so you might want to use them sparingly.

    Have a Budget

There’s no question that online casinos have more roulette options. With 24/7 access, including on mobile devices and the latest tech screens, it is easier than you think to get too immersed in the splendid world of roulette.

No matter which game you play or the bets you make, it is essential that you begin with a budget. Having a budget works wonders to help prevent problem gambling and compulsive spending. Also, having a budget works to help discipline making bets that work to stretch your budget. Even though roulette is a game of chance, the longer you play, the greater the chance of wins coming through.

Show Off Your Latest Roulette Strategies:

The joy of playing roulette is that it can be as simple or complex as you want it to be. To gain confidence, new roulette players stick with simple wagers like the straight-up and red or black. You can also bet on a single or double zero. Roulette also comes with many battle-tested betting strategies. However, consider using them sparingly so you don’t quickly burn through your bankroll.
